In this section, you'll find answers to the most frequently asked questions from our valued anglers and their companions! We're always happy to help, and our friendly team will be there to support you and make your fly-fishing trip to Bariloche the best ever!
You don't need to bring all your fishing gear. We can provide it. However, if you're fishing for more than four days and need waders and boots, I highly recommend bringing your own, as it makes things easier for you. And if you'd like some advice beforehand and to bring your other fly fishing tackle, you're welcome to!
The flies I recommend for fishing at Manso Waters Lodge are:
Streamers: Woolly Buggers, dragonfly nymphs, large weighted attractants;
Dry flies: rubber-legged flies, caddisflies, mayflies, ground flies.

The species we catch and release are wild Patagonian trout; there are 3 varieties: brown, rainbow, and brook.
To get to the Lodge, our guide or driver will pick you up at your hotel in Bariloche; or we can also pick you up at Bariloche Airport. The trip takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. If you prefer, you can drive your own vehicle and park it at the Lodge; we will send you directions.
The types of boats are the drift boat for calmer waters, such as those of lakes, and the cataraft for the waters of the gentle river, since there are Class I and II rapids.
Besides fly fishing in the region's waters, you can enjoy various adventure activities and moments of relaxation.
- Rafting or hydrospeeding on the rapids of the Manso River.
- Visit to the petroglyph paintings of indigenous communities.
- Hikes through mountains, forests, and waterfalls.
- Identification and photography of the region's flora and fauna.
- Visit to farms in the valley with a picnic lunch.
- Horseback riding through the countryside.
- Relaxation in a hot tub with a massage.
Travelers arriving from abroad usually first land in Buenos Aires, from where you can take a flight to your desired destination. For example, to get to our lodge, you must take a flight to Bariloche airport.
It is located in the Bariloche region, in the Manso River Valley, bordering the southern side of Nahuel Huapi National Park, accessible via Provincial Route 83. It is a very remote area from the main city.
The climate is spring, summer, and just beginning autumn. This is the period when our lodge is open. While it's hot during the peak summer months, it's always best to bring warm and waterproof clothing depending on the time of year; we can help you with that.
We always practice catch and release fishing; it is very important to conserve the river and its life.
It lasts approximately 7 to 8 hours per day. If you would like a different schedule or have any special requests, please let us know and we will always try to accommodate you.
